OCPP/Pro-Cert Canada Inc.

OCPP/Pro-Cert Canada (OC/PRO) resulted from the merger in 1999 of two very similar organic certification agencies:

• Organic Crop Producers & Processors (OCPP) of Ontario, Canada
  
• Pro-Cert Organic Systems (Pro-Cert) of Saskatchewan, Canada

Both founding affiliates started certification in 1990, were owned and operated by Professional Agrologists (P.Ag.'s) and worked on a fee for service basis. Neither agency required memberships or demanded royalties.

The obvious commonalities, the strategic east-west office locations, the like-minded founding principals and the need for the intellectual and financial mass to survive in Canada's unregulated organic environment led to the merger. The founding affiliates which still provide the actual certification services under license from OC/PRO, now certify some 1,500 organic producers, processors, handlers and traders in Canada, the US and abroad. OC/PRO's certification scope grew from certification to it's own standard to certification via appropriate accreditation to:

1. the OC/PRO Standard;
   
2. the EEC Regulation 2092/91;
   
3. the Canadian Organic Standard;
   
4. the USDA National Organic Program;
   
5. the Quebec Standard.

OC/PRO also provides assisted applications for Bio-Suisse (Switzerland) approval and JAS (Japan) certification and organic market access through partnerships with accredited certifiers. Currently OC/PRO is pursuing accreditation to offer JAS certification directly to it's clients.

OC/PRO Canada is essentially a family business and is 100% Canadian owned. It celebrated it's 15th anniversary in 2005. The Eastern Affiliate has recently moved into new quarter near in Lindsay, Ontario and the Western Affiliate will turn the sod for a new head office near Saskatoon in 2006. OC/PRO is proud to announce the opening of our new European office in Sofia, Bulgaria offering organic certification services in Eastern Europe. These ongoing investments are a reflection of continuing consumer and client confidence in OC/PRO.
